You can send a notification from any automation. It appears in the notification dialog you open from the navigation bar, and in the notifications tab inside your project. Automations create them with the post_notification action.

Who receives it

You cannot choose. A notification from an automation reaches whoever that automation belongs to: the person who created it, whoever set that run going, plus anyone added to an agent that uses it. A builder who has never touched the automation is not notified. So “notify me” on an automation you built reaches you. On an automation inside a shared agent, it also reaches that agent’s people. There is no recipient setting, and no way to send to a named person or an outside address from this action - use the email, Slack or Telegram actions for that.

Severity

Severity sets how a notification reads, not who gets it or what it can do:
  • info
  • suggestion
  • warning
  • action_required
  • celebration
Choose it honestly. Marking something action_required does not change who is notified, does not add buttons, and does not create an approval. Approvals are a separate step type.
